Episode 35: The Bride
Jamie is fiery! She has a horse named Wildfire that she likes to ride bareback! She is beloved by all and has zero flaws except... a terrible sense of direction!
Alec is... large! And rude!
And none of these people know a damn thing about medieval Scotland! You got it, it's Julie Garwood's The Bride!
Did I mention NO RESEARCH HAS BEEN DONE HERE? None. Not one goddamned bit. All Julie Garwood knows about Scotland she learned from Brigadoon and she ain't afraid to show it! This cover is... honestly about right. I have NOTES about all the kilts in this book.
This book features some pretty serious ravishing, in which the woman clearly says no but enjoys the sex that follows. It's clearly presented in a fantasy setting and she really enjoys it, which puts it apart from books like The Flame and the Flower and, god Fanta-C was so weird. It won't bother some people because of that context, but it is still definitely nonconsensual.
Note: wasn't Fanta-C our episode 35? Yes, it was! But we changed it! We released that one on YouTube first since we Zoomed it, and we wanted to give people time to see it there, but then we needed to release this one because seriously it's been months.... anyway we didn't want you to miss Fanta-C if you only get stuff through your subscriptions so we'll make it Episode 35.
Annnd you'll note on this episode we finally got to our special shoutout for our personal favorite Patreons (you're all our favorite Patreons but come ON, these guys are great!) the Loyal Nine Navy. So fun that Intern Wallace did a graphic just for them!
